As GOP Weighs Repeal, Poll Finds Growing Support for Obamacare

A leaked draft of House Republicans' plan to repeal Obamacare could have major repercussions for women's health.

Boehner told the crowd of healthcare IT professionals at the HiMSS conference that the notion that an Obamacare repeal and replace bill would quickly and easily sail through Congress was little more than "happy talk". It is unclear how, if at all, the draft, dated February 9, will change when presented by House Speaker Paul Ryan and House Republicans next week. Republicans know of this issue, which is why they have repeatedly pledged they would not take healthcare away from those who now get help with their individual coverage through the Health Market that Obamacare helped establish. He told the Post that Boehner is confident Republicans "will right the many wrongs of Obamacare, whether your preference is to call it fix, a replacement or something else".

This contrasts with the majority of voters surveyed, 53%, who said the healthcare system in the United States has so many problems that it needed to be completely rebuilt.

CDC: 1 in 4 fatal drug overdoses linked to heroin in 2015
On Friday, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention reported that 25% of US drug overdoses in 2015 were related to heroin. Those numbers were higher for non-Hispanic white people, whose overdose rate increased at a seven percent average each year.

GOP House leaders report they're working on ways to continue federal funding to the 31 Medicaid expansion states, but only until a replacement program could take effect that would likely shift a greater cost burden to the states.

Hundreds are expected to rally in support of universal health care programs Saturday in New Britain.

If that's the case, it would be a significant blow to President Trump and Republicans who campaigned on the promise of repealing and replacing Obamacare. Currently, Obamacare limits insurers to charging older customers three times more. To pay for the replacement, Republicans want to limit tax breaks on expensive employer-based health plans, akin to the ACA's "Cadillac tax" on generous employer and union health coverage.

Penalty Rate Cuts Offer Big Break To CE And Appliance Retailers
Mrs Whittaker did acknowledge, however, that employees may not praise the Commission's decision . I say it's time that people start uniting and fighting back.

Count the former Republican Speaker of the House-who waged his own war against the Affordable Care Act during his time in office-among those who believe the healthcare law won't be fully repealed. The bill, which was obtained by Politico, would give money to states to cover some people with pre-existing conditions and replace subsidies with tax credits based on age rather than income.

Speaker Paul Ryan has said for months that Republicans would introduce legislation to repeal Obamacare - which funds abortions with taxpayer dollars.

Yet, Senate budget rules limit how much of the health care law can be replaced through the process known as "reconciliation", meaning that the GOP will have to rely on skeptical Democrats to pass other health care bills and on Health and Human Services Secretary Tom Price to take executive action on other fronts. Trump and congressional Republicans want to change all that including the funding formula for Medicaid. It is also important to note, he says, that what House Republicans and Senate Republicans want in the final legislation is not exactly in sync now.

Ben Simmons will not play this season
The 76ers traded forward Nerlens Noel this week to make room for him, Jahlil Okafor and Joel Embiid in the same starting lineup. Colangelo said: "We've always anticipated that there would be an opportunity for him to play, hopefully this season".

It's not clear that the details in the two-week-old draft bill, such as the size of the tax credits, are still being considered. Recently, House Republicans have come under fire - including Rep. Kevin Cramer - at town-hall events that have drawn angry protests from people concerned over losing their coverage under Obamacare.
