Lawyer releasing 'unedited' Ferguson video of Brown in store

Michael Brown

Fresh protests in the memory of Michael Brown broke out Sunday evening after new surveillance video featuring the slain Black teen hours before his killing was released, brought to light by a documentary called "Stranger Fruit" which debuted at the South by Southwest festival in Austin, Texas, Saturday evening.

Obtained by filmmaker Jason Pollock, the footage questions claims by police that Brown had robbed a convenience store ahead of getting shot dead by a white officer named Darren Wilson in Ferguson, Missouri, on August 9, 2014.

Critics of the police's handling of the shooting and its aftermath have accused authorities of maligning Brown's character by releasing a different video from inside the store showing him pushing a worker and taking cigarillos.

St. Louis County Prosecutor Bob McCulloch decried a new documentary Monday that includes previously unreleased video evidence related to the 2014 police shooting of Michael Brown in Ferguson, Mo., calling the 90-minute film "poorly-edited" and "pathetic". Video was released of Brown shoving the clerk in the market and the clerk reported a robbery to the police.

He also said "we hope this can be resolved in two to three weeks" when asked how long the family has to collect the body. A video of a young man claiming to be Kim Jong Nam's son, had surfaced online last week, from an undisclosed location.

The St. Louis County Police said, "If it did occur, the incident is still irrelevant to our investigation because our department investigated the encounter between Michael Brown and Darren Wilson".

The video appears to show Brown hand the clerk an item that looks like a small bag, and the clerk hands brown a shopping bag filled with cigarillos.

The documentary suggests that Brown did not return to rob the store but came back to retrieve the bag of cigarellos. "They didn't take the marijuana...maybe Michael Brown thought they would trade him cigarillos, but they didn't".

Mr Pollock's film claims that the marijuana was exchanged as part of a pre-negotiated deal, and that Brown had then chose to leave the cigars behind the shop counter for safekeeping.

Radioactive Boars Rule Abandoned Japanese Towns In Wake Of Fukushima Disaster
The task would be a lot easier if not for the hundreds of radioactive wild boars currently roaming within the now habitable zone. Authorities in the town of Tomioka say they have killed 800 boars so far, but claim that is not almost enough.

Kanzler said no one from the film interviewed him or his clients about the footage.

Wilson fatally shot Brown after Brown exited the store. The police department was aware of the footage, but they did not believe it was significant to the case, he said. He also denied that there was any exchange of drugs in the store and he suggested the clip in the film had been cut to remove a scene where employees throw what appears to be a bag of marijuana back at Brown.

"There was no transaction", Kanzler told the NYT. Brown, unarmed, would eventually turn around, and Wilson shot him several times. He resigned from the police force. He then had a discussion with the clerks and left the store without the merchandise.

The co-owner of the market, And Patel, maintains that Brown stole the cigarillos.

Brown's parents have filed a federal civil suit against Officer Wilson, the city of Ferguson and the former Ferguson police chief. Jay Kanzler, the store's lawyer, insisted no exchange happened during the first visit. The 18-year-old walks toward the door and then hands the bag back to the clerk before leaving.
