Sean Spicer Won't Deny Trump Aides' Collusion With Russian Operatives

Trump Says GOP Health Bill Was'Very Close to Passing

Spicer said that President Trump has given it his all towards replacing the Affordable Care Act, even though there are numerous indications suggesting the new bill won't pass.

He also lunched with Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin and investor Nelson Peltz.

Asked whether the administration had enough votes to pass the bill, Spicer said they would have to wait and see what happens with the vote.

But many Republican members of congress remained stubbornly opposed to the bill despite efforts by House Speaker Paul Ryan and House leadership to move votes in a different direction.

Asked if there was a political cost to a collapse of the health care bill, Spicer said that there would have been a cost to allowing the debate to carry on.

"I think the president has given it his all", he said.

At this rate, by next week, I half-expect Spicer to describe Manafort as "some guy Trump once said hello to".

The measure, known as the American Health Care Act, is expected to come to the House floor for a vote Friday afternoon.

Yesterday, Spicer went just a little further, dismissing the former Trump campaign chairman as someone who was on the team "for five months".

The White House said Friday evening the fate of Obamacare is now in the hands of Democrats after no one in the party vowed to support the GOP's healthcare bill that is on indefinite hold. "It's a failing system - skyrocketing premiums and deductibles, and fewer choices".
