Unemployed Preet Bharara Zings Cuomo On Twitter

US President Donald Trump has claimed his predecessor Barack Obama had his phones tapped

The progressive senator Elizabeth Warren accused Donald Trump of breaching justice department rules and firing a prominent prosecutor to install "cronies", warning on Sunday of "a massive fight" in the Senate over his picks for new USA attorneys.

Last week, the president claimed that former president Obama had ordered his Manhattan headquarters, Trump Tower, be bugged by the intelligence agencies. Since November, however, Schumer has led the Democratic opposition in the Senate, which the White House views as obstructionist and running counter to the President's agenda.

"I did not resign", the federal prosecutor said.

Although US attorneys are political appointees, and the request from the Justice Department is part of a routine process, the move came as a surprise.

Ning also said power generation rose 6.3 per cent year on year in the first two months, and freight volume was up 6.9 per cent. Tentative dates for the meetings are April 6-7, the online news outlet Axios reported .

The Justice Department asked Bharara and 45 other federal prosecutors to resign.

Attorney General Jeff Sessions this week called for the resignation of the 46 remaining Obama administration attorneys, including Bharara.

Matt Miller, a former Justice Department spokesman and top aide to Attorney General Eric Holder, said that the call "still means the president was either unaware of the prohibitions on contacts between the White House and DOJ officials, or he ignored them, and either is an indictment of Don McGahn". Mr Trump may have reconsidered leaving such a dogged U.S. attorney in place who pays no homage to party. Indeed, for all 46 of the U.S. Attorneys who were told to clean out their offices on Friday, the White House has nominated a grand total of zero prosecutors to fill these new vacancies.

Bharara and the U.S. Attorney's office did investigate the closing of the commission, but ultimately ended the probe, with Bharara saying, "After a thorough investigation of interference with the operation of the Moreland Commission and its premature closing, this office has concluded that, absent any additional proof that may develop, there is insufficient evidence to prove a federal crime". One U.S. attorney was out of state on Friday and was forced to say goodbye to his office by a blast email, said Tim Purdon, a former U.S. attorney from North Dakota who was included on the email chain.

Starvation 'largest humanitarian crisis in history of UN'
The United Nations is warning that the world is facing its worst humanitarian crisis since the organization was founded in 1945. The last time a starvation was declared in Somalia - just six years ago - almost 260,000 people died.

"Hunt was direct and clear in our conversation that, given written White House contacts policy, my position as a sitting USA attorney, and my office's jurisdiction, it would be improper for me to speak directly to the sitting president without knowing the subject matter", Bharara said in his statement.

The Moreland Commission was an anti-corruption group, set up by Andrew Cuomo in July 2013, only to shut it down in 2014. Dubbed the man "busting Wall Street" in 2012 by Time Magazine, Bharara made a name for himself as a securities fraud and insider trading enforcer.

Bharara announced that Joon H. Kim, the current deputy United States attorney, will serve in his place.

The replacement of most, if not all, serving USA attorneys is quite customary at the start of every new administration. "Newsflash, @realDonaldTrump. The Senate confirms USA attorneys". Bharara then called Trump's assistant and explained he couldn't talk to the President because of the protocols, the source said. Afterward, Bharara said he was asked to stay on once Trump took office. When a new or acting USA attorney general is nominated, Senate tradition requires the two home state Senators to sign what's called a blue slip.
