If you live in Gibraltar, tell us what you think about Brexit

They were published a day before Prime Minister Theresa May triggered Britain's withdrawal from the European Union under Article 50 of the EU treaty, setting in motion a two-year process after which the United Kingdom - and by extension Gibraltar - will be outside the bloc.

Britain and Spain have engaged in centuries of squabbling over the territorial status of "the rock", and the EU's stance is likely to intensify those arguments.

Spain has a long-standing territorial claim on British Overseas Territory Gibraltar, held by the United Kingdom since 1713, which now houses key British army bases.

Spain must have a say over whether any post-Brexit deal applies to Gibraltar, the European Union said Friday, a move welcomed by Madrid which is engaged in a bitter sovereignty row with London over the British territory.

NC lawmakers announce deal on HB2 standoff
North Carolina lawmakers and the governor reached an agreement to repeal the state's controversial "bathroom bill", called HB2. It now moves on to the Senate floor, where it must survive two additional votes before moving to the House for a final vote.

Gibraltarians want to stay British, as demonstrated in 2002 when they rejected a referendum on shared sovereignty with Spain. The EU has warned Britain that issues relating to Britain's departure - such as the size of the divorce bill and residence rights of EU citizens - must be solved before a new trade deal can be discussed. "We have been firm in our commitment never to enter arrangements under which the people of Gibraltar would pass under the sovereignty of another state against their wishes, nor to enter into a process of sovereignty negotiations with which Gibraltar is not content", she told MPs.

The U.K's exit from the European Union has revived a long dispute between the United Kingdom and Spain over Gibraltar, a peninsula close to Spain's southernmost tip, that was captured by an Anglo-Dutch force in 1704.

Spain's Foreign Minister, Alfonso Dastis, has told a leading German newspaper that Madrid will not be taking "any type of punitive measures" at the border with Gibraltar after Brexit.

Rows between Spain and Britain over Gibraltar have held up entire European Union deals in the past - including current legislation governing air travel - and Brussels is keen to avoid a new bilateral dispute getting in the way of an orderly Brexit.

Morgue reopens as Kim's body reportedly leaves Malaysia
Kim Jong-nam's body is believed to be on Malaysia Airlines flight MH360 to Beijing en route to North Korea, according to Reuters. South Korean and U.S. intelligence sources say North Korea masterminded the attack, which Pyongyang denies.

Spain's conservative government, which has been particularly vocal about getting Gibraltar back, welcomed the latest development.

Brake has also urged Theresa May to act and protect the people of Gibraltar.

Liberal Democrat foreign affairs spokesman Tom Brake said: "Theresa May must urgently produce a plan that protects the citizens of Gibraltar, including their businesses and communities".

Downing Street said Mrs May had made clear the Government was "absolutely steadfast in our support of Gibraltar, its people and its economy" in her Commons statement on Wednesday.
