Jury begin 6th day of deliberations in Aaron Hernandez trial

A Boston jury returned a not guilty verdict against Hernandez on murder, armed assault, and witness intimidation charges.

CORRECTS DAY TO FRIDAY -Judge Jeffrey Locke asks the jury a question at the start of the sixth day of jury deliberations in the double murder trial of former New England Patriots tight end Aaron Hernandez at Suffolk Superior Court Friday, April 14, 2017 in Boston.

The decision comes two years after another MA jury found the former National Football League tight end guilty of murdering an acquaintance in an industrial park near his home in June 2013.

Prosecutors say they put forward a strong case but respect the jury's decision.

Conley said prosecutors and the families take solace in the fact that Hernandez is serving a life sentence in the 2013 killing of Odin Lloyd, a semi-professional football player who was dating the sister of Hernandez's fiancee.

Lavrov says Russian Federation has lots of questions about the "very ambiguous" and "contradictory" ideas coming from the U.S. Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov blasted USA claims that it has "irrefutable evidence" of election interference.

Hernandez was also acquitted Friday of shooting Bradley in the face months later to try to silence him as a witness.

He pointed out holes in the prosecution's case including the absence of forensic evidence tying Hernandez to the shootings - no fingerprints or DNA were found on the gun used in the killing or in the vehicle that Hernandez allegedly fired from.

Hernandez cried in court as the verdict was read, saying he is "very happy".

He's also charged with three counts of armed assault with intent to murder for allegedly shooting at three survivors; one count of assault and battery by means of a risky weapon; one count of witness intimidation and one count of unlawful possession of a firearm.

Bradley testified that Hernandez became enraged after de Abreu bumped into him while dancing, spilling his drink at a Boston nightclub.

Daniel de Abreu and Safiro Furtado were shot to death as they waited at a stoplight in the early morning of July 16, 2012.

Jury forewoman Lindsey Stringer read a statement outside court noting the more than 70 witnesses and over 380 exhibits presented in the case. His lawyers said it was Hernandez's friend who shot the men in a drug deal.

On Friday, the jury acquitted Hernandez on seven of eight charges after reportedly deliberating for 37 hours.

"We are extraordinarily thankful to the jury", Sullivan said.
