Samsung Galaxy S8 hits launch snag with Bixby voice assistant

Just months removed from the recall of its exploding Galaxy Note 7 devices, all seems forgotten.

Now, we all know what happened to the latter phone despite setting another record in South Korea's smartphone industry. They are Samsung's first major smartphones to go on sale since the disastrous recall of the exploding Galaxy Note 7 previous year.

With Samsung's flagship smartphone launched recently, it is safe to say that things are just starting to heat up for some of its features, particularly its voice assistant.

In just few weeks of the Galaxy S8 lineup pre-orders going live in the US and South Korea, Samsung witnessed a "double digit growth" (at least 10 percent) over Galaxy S7's a year ago. "Until now, pre-orders for the Galaxy S8 reached 620,000 units, with the 128GB Galaxy S8 Plus accounting for 150,000 units", a Samsung official told the Korean Herald.

The Galaxy S8 doesn't go out to consumers until April 21, but the early signs are positive.

Additionally, we've also seen reports that demand for the premium-priced S8 Plus has been stronger than what Samsung was expecting, even prompting the company to boost S8 Plus production as a result.

Samsung Electronics again released its virtual reality headset Gear VR and Gear 360 camera that can be powered by the Galaxy S8. While it will have Vision, Home, and Reminders at launch, Voice won't be coming until later in Spring, and that's for United States owners only. But with an IP68 rating already on board the biggest draw here will likely be added impact resistance if they can avoid beating the S8 with the ugly stick too much. The standard S8 has a 5.8-inch 1440p sAMOLED "Infinity Display" while the S8+ has to do with a 6.2-inch 1440p version of the same. The dual-screen smartphone may be a preliminary prototype for Samsung's supposedly bendable smartphone, the Galaxy X.

The Galaxy S8 smartphones feature high resolution displays that bend on both sides and come with various innovative biometric technologies, such as a face recognition scanner and a smart voice assistance program named Bixby.
