Facebook starts commercial rollout of Express Wi-Fi, gets Airtel as partner for 20000 hotspots

Facebook's Express Wi-Fi service is available through almost 700 hotspots across the four Indian states of Uttarakhand, Gujarat, Rajasthan and Meghalaya.

Moving on, Facebook has 700 hotspots installed across four Indian states: Rajasthan, Gujarat, Meghalaya, and Uttarakhand.

With the launch of the service, India joins Kenya, Tanzania, Nigeria and Indonesia to have Express Wi-Fi.

Facebook will basically use Bharti Airtel's existing network to sell its paid Express Wi-Fi internet data services to customers at low prices by going local.

The executive said that Facebook is working towards empowering local entrepreneur, internet service providers and telecom operators to offer reliable and affordable service to underserved community. "They also help Indians connect to the internet easily and for an affordable rate", said Munish Seth, Facebook Asia-Pacific's head of connectivity solutions.

Seth also stated that India's population is about 1.3 billion people, but only 390 million are connected to the Internet. Now, they are back with the noble intentions and hope to expand quickly tying up with different service providers across the country.
