Phoenix serial killing suspect arrested in deaths of 9

Police dubbed Saucedo the "Serial Street Shooter" for a spate of shootings over a four-month period that left Phoenix residents terrified.

Police say Saucedo killed nine people and carried out 12 shootings from August 2015 and July 2016, targeting victims after dark and gunning them down as they stood outside their homes or sat in their cars. "Many came in as, 'My neighbor has a black BMW, ' or 'My neighbor has dark hair and looks like the serial shooter.' No one tip that came in gave us the whole puzzle, just tiny pieces that helped additional evidence come into view".

Saucedo appeared in court late Monday night and a judge ordered him held without bail.

Aaron Juan Saucedo said "I'm innocent" during a brief initial court appearance.

Deputy County Attorney Patricia Stevens filed a motion to seal the paperwork, which was granted.

They didn't care. You know why?

Police in the USA state of Arizona say a man arrested last month is responsible for a series of deadly shootings in Phoenix past year.

Saucedo was a bus driver for the city of Phoenix through a temp agency for several months in July through August 2015, Phoenix police said.

Police now say 9 killed in serial shootings case
Authorities investigated Saucedo more closely and connected him to the serial killings. Police said they have not identified a motive but believe Saucedo acted alone.

Saucedo first was arrested for the 2015 death of Raul Romero, 61, his mother's boyfriend.

Police spent more than a year looking for the suspect, Phoenix Mayor Greg Stanton said at a press conference Monday.

Police are still determining a motive, and have not found correlations between most of the victims and Saucedo.

Aaron Saucedo, 23, had already been charged with murder in connection with a killing in August 2015, police say.

Detectives produced sketches based on statements provided by witnesses and survivors and police stumped up a $75,000 reward for information which might trace him but the killer went unstopped for more than a year.

Aaron Saucedo pleaded not guilty at his arraignment on a single murder charge on Friday. The Associated Press was unable to reach Saucedo's public defender on Monday. Saucedo only knew Romero, who was the first victim in the shooting spree, and police said they don't know what motivated the killings.

The 23-year-old Phoenix man arrested in a series of shootings in which nine people were killed has appeared in court, but records from that overnight appearance have been temporarily sealed by a judge at the request of prosecutors.

Another series of shootings past year put Phoenix on edge, but Williams said there's no evidence to connect Saucedo to the I-10 Freeway Shootings.

Now he has been linked to the deaths of eight other people, between January and July 2016. "But my son is not coming back". "The pain is the same". She said her husband and his friends began hanging out in the backyard instead of the front after the shootings.

"I'm happy my kids are going to be able to walk outside and I won't have to fear that they're going to get shot", Pastrana said.

"I had a gut feeling it was him", she told the Republic.

Marina Smith, the partner of 21-year-old Diego Verdugo-Sanchez, who was gunned down on April 1, 2016, said she welcomed news of the arrest but was still struggling with his loss.

She was seven months pregnant with the couple's child when Mr Verdugo-Sanchez was fatally shot in front of a home.

Sylvia Ellis, the mother and grandmother of two victims, said she was reeling from news of the charges after the trail seemed to have grown cold for so long. They followed the evidence, they were thorough.
