Newtown parent won't view NBC interview of Alex Jones

Kelly's first episode came out of the gate rather strong, averaging 6.2 million viewers.

Connecticut's NBC affiliate, WVIT, broke with the network last night by refusing to run Megyn Kelly's interview with Alex Jones, the conspiracy theorist who claimed the 2012 Sandy Hook massacre was a staged event created to promote tougher gun control laws. Reruns ran after "Sunday Night With Megyn Kelly".

The three shows that aired on ABC after Kelly's - "Celebrity Family Feud", "Steve Harvey's Funderdome" and "The $100,000 Pyramid" - earned at least 1.4 million more viewers than Kelly's did.

Saudi Arabia become puppet of USA in region: Iran's Safavi
Tensions between Qatar and its Gulf neighbours Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates ( UAE ) are not new, says Juneau. Microblogging site Twitter has briefly suspended the Al Jazeera Media Network's Arabic-language Twitter account.

In fact, "Sunday Night with Megyn Kelly" spent very little time actually letting Jones speak. Members of that community, where 20 children and six educators were killed, were among the voices raised against NBC airing the interview.

Unsettling as it may be to have to aired it at all, Kelly's 20-minute segment on Jones and his influence (his fans include President Donald Trump) seemed to have benefited greatly from the pre-criticism and brouhaha that swirled around it last week (one NBC-owned station declined to air it; an advertiser backed out), assuring that Kelly and her producers delivered a tightly edited, firmly reported, no-nonsense story about someone who tells unsafe lies.

But the controversy didn't end there.

County and city officials who helped finance the stunt hope people watching news coverage will feel the same pull. In 2003 Mr Jones was fined by a Canadian court for performing an illegal stunt and banned from the country.

Megyn Kelly's Alex Jones interview was more uneventful than its actual content previously suggested. The two frequently interrupted each other as Kelly kept asking if he would admit to his wrongdoing and a visibly tense Jones kept deflecting her questions, blaming the media for distorting his remarks or veering between acknowledging and disputing the tragedy. In response to criticism, Kelly invited parents to participate in the segment, an offer that one father accepted.

Jones' comments about the Sandy Hook shooting-he continues to argue the murderous rampage was a government-sanctioned hoax-were the main flashpoint for many advertisers and viewers. Lawyers representing 12 people who lost loved ones in the Sandy Hook massacre wrote to the network and asked them not to air the interview.

Al Tompkins, the Poynter Institute's senior faculty for broadcasting and online, told Forbes that Kelly will need to boost her ratings to ensure her reported seven-figure salary with the network.

US, Qatar agree F-15 fighter sale
The sale comes amid a simmering crisis in the Gulf after Qatar's neighbors accused it of supporting terrorism and cut diplomatic ties.

"What will show her success long term is if she gets the ratings she needs or not", he explained.
