Arsenal Star Reveals Special Europa League Motivation

Martin Keown

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger says he was surprised last night's Europa League game against Cologne went ahead after crowd problems caused by ticketless away fans delayed kick-off.

A pre-match statement issued by London's Metropolitan Police said: "Officers are dealing with disorder at the Emirates Stadium where fans have gathered for the Arsenal vs FC Koln match".

Sanchez made his second start of the season in an impressive showing, capping his performance with a sublime effort in the second half - his first goal of the season against the Bundesliga's bottom side.

"Sanchez played very deep in the first half and when he had more support on the flanks from Kolasinac, he became more risky", Wenger said of his decision to change formation during the break, as quoted on Arsenal's official site.

Hurricane Jose a potential threat to US East Coast next week
For the European weather model, a recurvature out to sea or a landfall in New England or Canada were the preferred solutions. Even the GFS, which initially showed Irma headed towards a SC landfall, agrees with the European model about Jose, she said.

Although Alexandar Borkovic pulled one back two minutes after the break, Silva completed his treble in the 56th minute after being sent clear by Franck Kessie's through ball.

Cologne coach Peter Stoger refused to answer questions on the actions of his club's supporters: "I have no comment about the fans", he said.

Cologne fans descended upon Arsenal on Thursday evening chanting the name of former Tottenham defender Kevin Wimmer.

Arsenal expected to win big tonight in their Europa League fixture against Cologne at 20:05 GMT.

Policemen Gunned Down in Ferocious Terrorist Attack in North Sinai, Egypt
Security forces were exchanging fire with militants near the explosion site and managed to kill several of them, MENA said. Militants detonated an Improvised Explosive Device, destroying three armoured vehicles and a signal-jamming vehicle.

Arsenal will be investigating, however, to understand how the situation arose and what they can learn from the situation going forward.

When the match did get under way, Cologne took the lead in spectacular fashion as Jhon Cordoba lobbed fellow Colombian David Ospina from 40 yards. They now rank dead last through three games, with just one goal scored and a huge seven surrendered.

"Sanchez came alive in the second half", said Wenger.

"It's a good test because it's a European competition, although we do want to play in the Champions League. But Sanchez is Sanchez, he is an exceptional football player", Wenger said.

Former governor Mikheil Saakashvili 'forces entry' to Ukraine
The 49-year-old is now wanted on criminal charges in Georgia, which he says were trumped up for political reasons. I do believe that many in the presidential administration had simply hoped that Saakashvili wouldn't strike back.

Wilshere looked sharp again, Reiss Nelson had hardly any time but still gave us a glimpse of his potential and Alexis suddenly found his form again, which is exactly the sort of thing we hoped would happen.
