Chelsea agree Zappacosta deal

Davide Zappacosta of Torino is on his way to London to complete a move to Chelsea

Chelsea left it late on deadline day to complete the signings of full-back Davide Zappacosta and midfielder Danny Drinkwater. Drinkwater departs from Leicester City for a reported fee of £35m, joining up with former teammate N'Golo Kante in Chelsea's midfield.

Meanwhile, BT Sport pundit James Horncastle says the signing of the 25-year-old seems like a panic buy by the London club.

Drinkwater played a big role in Leicester's incredible title-winning campaign of 2015/16.

Chelsea then confirmed the 25-year-old Zappacosta signed a four-year contract, becoming Chelsea's fifth signing of a hard summer transfer window.

Earlier in the day, the Stamford Bridge club completed the signing of Italy worldwide defender Davide Zappacosta from Torino in a deal reportedly worth around £23m.

He becomes Chelsea's fifth signing after the acqusition of Tiemoue Bakayoko, Alvaro Morata, Antonio Rudiger and Willy Caballero. "He has signed a four-year deal at Stamford Bridge". I am very excited to be here and start working with the team.

Sources have told calciomercato.com that the Premier League champions have just made their bid to sign the Torino defender given that Oxlade Chamberlain has snubbed a move to Chelsea and has already joined Liverpool instead.
