Rafael Nadal v Kevin Anderson: US Open men's final

Rafael Nadal of Spain holds the trophy after defeating Kevin Anderson of South Africa

He had reached the Australian Open Final before winning the French Open, his first Grand Slam in three years.

On Sunday, at 10pm (SA time), Kevin Anderson will attempt to become the first South African to win a singles title at the US Open when he faces Spanish giant Rafael Nadal in the men's final in NY.

The opening ceremony is under way and the players should be on court shortly. So far, he has won 15 Grand Slam titles and has the opportunity to clinch his 16 at the expense of Anderson.

He had also become an American citizen when he won the 1982 Australian Open. Despite his poor career head-to-head record against the Spaniard, Anderson is determined to spoil Nadal's sweet 16 celebration.
