The US Government Is Getting Rid Of Moscow-Based Kaspersky Products

Kremlin condemns US ban on Kaspersky Labs software

On the eve, on Wednesday, September 13, the US Department of Homeland Security published an order that obliges all state institutions of the country within the next three months to refuse to use the antiviruses of the Russian company.

Both the company and its co-founder have denied the allegations.

Security experts told Fox News that they were not surprised by the DHS move. "There is no proof provided of any improper ties to the Russian government".

"The Department is concerned about the ties between certain Kaspersky officials and Russian intelligence and other government agencies, and requirements under Russian law that allow Russian intelligence agencies to request or compel assistance from Kaspersky and to intercept communications transiting Russian networks", Homeland Security said.

The order applies only to civilian government agencies and not the Pentagon, but US intelligence leaders said earlier this year that Kaspersky was already generally not allowed on military networks. "These moves have even led to reports of a former national security expert agreeing that Kaspersky is being treated unfairly", he said, referring to comments from former United States intelligence cyberwarfare operative Robert Lee.

Cardinals RB David Johnson to be placed on injured reserve list
The Cardinals had released Chris Johnson in their final roster cuts this year. Johnson injured his wrist in the season opener against the Detroit Lions .

Russia also came to its defense Thursday, with a spokesman for Russian President Vladimir Putin criticizing the USA ban.

McClatchy reported in July that documents it viewed appeared to show a link between Kaspersky and the Russian Security Service, the spy agency known as the FSB.

Sen. Jeanne Shaheen, D-N.H, has been pushing to prohibit the federal government from using the firm's products.

The directive issued by acting Homeland Security Secretary Elaine Duke comes as various us law enforcement and intelligence agencies and several congressional committees are investigating Russian meddling in the 2016 presidential election.

Shaheen welcomed the DHS move in a tweet on Wednesday. It said Thursday that it will continue to get its product to customers "through its website and other prominent retailers".

Dead After IS Attacks in Southern Iraq
It occurs in aftermath of a visit of iraqi prime minister, Haider Al-Abadi, in province of Dhi Qar, in particular, to Nasiriyya. Islamic State claimed responsibility in a statement on its Amaq news agency.

Vladimir Bruter, an expert with the International Institute of Humanitarian and Political Studies, told Sputnik that "if some officials in Russian Federation said that Apple and Microsoft were working hand in glove with the Central Intelligence Agency and, therefore, their products were considered a security threat and should be outlawed, they would immediately be branded in America as the main enemies of democracy".

The software has also already been banned from the Department of Defense, and Sen. "The Department wants to ensure that the company has a full opportunity to inform the Acting Secretary of any evidence, materials, or data that may be relevant", it said.

Software firm Kaspersky Lab is back under the microscope of the federal government - this time, leading to an FBI investigation for possible links to Russian security services.

Homeland Security says it fears Russian Federation could gain access to info that would put US national security at risk.

Shaheen has been working to pass a government-wide ban on Kaspersky software, which would effectively make the directive the law.

US Senate rejects bid to repeal war authorizations
Among those critical of the amendment were Senators Jack Reed (D-RI), John McCain (R-AZ), and Bob Corker (R-TN). The vote on tabling the amendment isn't necessarily indicative of where senators would've voted on Sen.
