The new Rs 2,000 note was introduced after the Centre made a decision to scrap the old Rs 500 and Rs 1,000 notes in an attempt to tackle black money and corruption in the country. The over-the-counter exchange of Rs 500/1,000 in return of new currency will be available once per person till December 30. In the wake of the problems faced by citizens while exchanging demonetised currency, Maharashtra Police also set up grievance cells in all district and commissionerates. (more...)

"Bulk deposits make a difference that might have been reflected in their deposit growths". One-month tenure will attract a rate of 8.70 per cent while those for three and six months will be 8.90 and nine per cent, respectively.
